How To Change Your Watch Strap

Don’t know how to change your watches strap? Here is a 4-step guide on how to install a leather strap!

Pre-Steps

  • A spring bar tool will be needed for this process.
  • Make sure to do this on a flat surface

Step 1

After having removed the strap off of your watch be sure to keep the spring bars you removed from the previous strap. You will need to insert them into the end of the strap you want to install. You must make sure to insert them all the way inside so it could be in the center.

Step 2

When installing the short end of the strap, be sure it is on the side where the watch indicates 12 o’clock. When doing this, the back side of your watch should be facing you. After, place the ends of the spring bars in the hole on the watch lug.

Step 3

Use your spring bar tool to insert the other end of the spring bar inside of the watch lugs. Both of the sides of the spring bar should be secure inside of the watch lugs. If not the strap will fall off of the watch. Be sure to give it a little tug to reassure that the spring bar was placed correctly.

Step 4

Repeat steps 1 to 3 on the other side. Remember to install the longer end strap to the side where the watch indicates 6 o’clock. Now you have fully installed a strap!

This technique will work on almost every straight end watch.
