Would you continue to drive to wear your favorite pair of shoes if the soles were completely worn through? Or would you keep a pair of gloves around that had holes in all of the fingers? Then why keep wearing a watch with a tired old watchband?
As watchbands age, they not only look older, they can actually weaken to the point of failure. Whether your watch has a leather or metal band, each of these can weaken in specific ways. Leather will begin to crack over time, eventually wearing thin and breaking. And the connecting links in a metal watchband will degrade over time until they, too, can break. And what would be worse that watching your watchband break while you’re high atop a building or overlook and seeing your watch fall away?
You can avoid scenarios like this by simply changing your watchband once it shows signs of aging. In a leather band, look for cracks or tears. In a metal band, look for missing pieces and telltale signs of wear. Replacement bands are relatively inexpensive, especially when compared to the cost of replacing an entire watch!
And perhaps the biggest side benefit? The beauty of a shiny new band to compliment your watch. It’s well worth the investment!
